On arrival, officials say they found a homemade explosive had gone off in or on a trash can on a nearby road, with a piece of the device hitting a house, causing minor damage.
Based on the location of the trash can and the house, authorities believe the shrapnel from the device traveled a few hundred feet.

Although the residents were home at the time, officials say no injuries were reported.
Further, despite initial reports, the explosion did not result in a fire. Although witnesses claim to have heard a second explosion, MCSO says they were unable to find any evidence of it, adding there is no danger to the public at this time.
Both MSCO and the ATF are continuing to investigate the incident.
