Homicide investigation begins after 56-year-old Wisconsin woman found dead with multiple gunshot wounds
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities in Wisconsin are conducting a homicide investigation after a welfare check on Thursday led to the discovery of a 56-year-old who had been shot and killed.
According to the Eau Claire Police Department, officers responded to a residence in the 400 block of Gilbert Avenue on Thursday just before 6:30 p.m. for a welfare check.

Upon arrival, officers located Michelle L. Jenkins, 56, deceased. During the investigation, it was determined that Jenkins sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Members of the Eau Claire Police Department processed the crime scene and collected evidence.
Detectives are conducting extensive interviews and continuing to gather additional information. The suspect or suspects have not yet been identified.
“The loss of life in such a manner deeply impacts our community,” said the Eau Claire Police Department on its social media page. “The men and women of the Eau Claire Police Department are fully committed to resolving this matter. We extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and all those affected by this senseless act.
