Homicide investigation launched into shooting death of Florida man in Wicomico County
The Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Sunday, June 9, in Wicomico County.
Officers from the Salisbury Police Department responded to the 700 block of E. Naylor Mill Road for a reported shooting at about 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning.
According to a preliminary investigation, the victim — identified as Franklin Abraham Perez Rodriguez, 23, of Miami — was involved in a physical altercation with an unknown male, said the Maryland State Police in a news release.

During the altercation, the male pulled out a firearm and shot Rodriguez before fleeing the scene, according to police. Rodriguez was transported by ambulance to TidalHealth Peninsula Regional, where he was declared dead, the release stated.
Salisbury Police requested that Maryland State Police homicide detectives take over the investigation into Rodriguez’s murder. No arrests have been made at this time.
