Man dead after getting stabbed then struck by hit-and-run driver in southeast valley, police say
LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — One man is dead and police are looking for two people after a stabbing and hit-and-run crash early Wednesday morning in the southeast valley. Nellis Boulevard remains closed at Harmon Avenue.
According to Las Vegas Metropolitan police, a crash was reported around 3 a.m. on Nellis near Harmon. When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a man on the road with injuries and a stab wound and notified homicide detectives.
Lt. Jason Johansson said a blood trail led from the victim to a residence in the 4900 block of Lana Drive.
“They learned through interviews with several of the neighbors over on Lana Drive that there was an altercation that occurred between our victim and possibly a Black female.”
The injured man then ran east on Lana Drive ending up in the roadway on Nellis. “We haven’t determined yet, was he standing? Or was he kneeling, or lying down?” Johannsson said.
A Dodge Challenger headed southbound on Nellis struck the man and left the scene.
“That Dodge then made a right turn on Harmon where they pulled over on the side of the road where they sustained damage to the front bumper of that vehicle and the driver of that vehicle exited the vehicle and removed the bumper of the vehicle and left the scene and made a U-turn and left back northbound on Nellis.”
Police are trying to identify the driver of the Dodge Challenger. Johannsson described the vehicle as flat orange or burnt orange that would be missing its entire front bumper and front clip where the headlights are located. Investigators are also trying to identify the woman who was in a fight with the victim prior to him being struck by the car.
