Homicide investigation underway after man found dead in Algiers
ALGIERS, La. (WGNO) — A man is dead following a shooting in an Algiers neighborhood, according to the New Orleans Police Department.
NOPD officers report that at 7:18 a.m. on Wednesday, July 31, they were called to the 3700 block of Texas Drive on a report of an unresponsive man at the scene.
New Orleans East fatal shooting under investigation
Upon arrival, officers found the man, identified by the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office as 38-year-old Reginald Ware, and declared him dead on the scene, classifying the crime as an unclassified death.
The incident was later reclassified as a homicide investigation after the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office discovered Ware had suffered a gunshot wound.

The NOPD is in the process of gathering evidence and information to determine a possible suspect and motive.
