Hours, pick-up and drop-off locations for pedestrian ferry in Iberville Parish
IBERVILLE PARISH, La. (BRPROUD) — Officials anticipate starting pedestrian ferry operations on Friday, June 14 after U.S. Coast Guard inspections.
Iberville Parish Government officials said a wildlife and fisheries boat will be used until the Grosse Tete Bridge is repaired. Security cameras were installed on-site by the sheriff’s office.
Pedestrian ferry hours will be from 5-9 a.m. and 3-8 p.m. seven days a week. Officials noted that hours may change when school begins in August.
The map below shows pick-up and drop-off locations.
“A huge thank you goes to all of our parish workers that have gone above and beyond this past week to get this pedestrian ferry running for our residents! We will continue to keep you informed with further updates on the situation,” parish government officials said in a social media post.
Officials said Grosse Tete Bridge repairs could take three to six months to finish. The bridge was closed on June 6 after a boat crashed into it, leaving “significant damage.” It reopened to boat traffic the following day but remains closed to car traffic.
