What else do we know about How To Kill Your Family? Let's take a look.
When will How To Kill Your Family be released?
How To Kill Your Family doesn’t have a release date just yet but when it does reach screens, you’ll find it on Netflix. The show is a limited series and will consist of eight episodes.
Netflix was also the home of Taylor-Joy’s board-game banger The Queen’s Gambit, a show that was released during lockdown and wasted no time becoming a hit with critics and viewers alike.
What is How To Kill Your Family about?
How To Kill Your Family is based on Mackie’s eponymous book and features a woman named Grace at the centre of its story. Grace is the daughter of Simon Artemis, a rich yet ruthless billionaire with whom she has a pretty complicated relationship.
According to the show’s official synopsis, “Grace is the product of an affair Simon claims not to remember, which left Grace and her mom to fend for themselves.”
When Grace’s mother dies and she’s abandoned by those who should be there for her, she makes it her mission to go after her family’s hefty fortune in the bloodiest way possible.
Switching gears, she “transforms her anger into something useful — killing off her estranged extended family via morbidly creative means. Soon, Grace is clawing her way toward revenge and a hefty inheritance. But her mission pulls her away from what she really needs.”
It’s Grace’s conflicted internal logic that immediately grabbed Moran’s attention.
“She’s the kind of complicated, dark, but utterly hilarious antihero you dream of writing,” explained the show’s executive producer. “Striking that balance between camp fun and brutal violence that Bella hits so perfectly in the book is a challenge I’m so looking forward to. I’ve never had more fun on a project with such a high body count.”
Who is in the How To Kill Your Family cast?
With production on How To Kill Your Family still in its early stages, its cast list remains sparse, with Taylor-Joy the only star confirmed to appear.
Speaking about her impending journey as Grace, the actor told Netflix: “As soon as I turned the last page, I knew I had to be a part of bringing this story to life.
“After some (light) stalking of the inimitable Bella Mackie, I could not be more thrilled to be collaborating with the team that is executive producers Sally Woodward Gentle, Lizzie Rusbridger, and Emma. I am looking forward to getting our hands even dirtier.”
Mackie, meanwhile, was similarly chuffed at Taylor-Joy jumping aboard, saying she’s the “most perfect fit to play Grace. “I often think she understands her better than I do.”
As production on the series gets underway, we’re sure more names will be added to its cast list so be sure to check back soon.
