Hurricane Francine caused over 260 homes to flood in Kenner
KENNER, La. (WGNO) — As damage assessments wrap up in Kenner, city officials announce that 264 homes flooded in the city during Hurricane Francine.
The City of Kenner also made several other announcements regarding the aftermath of the hurricane.

Garbage/Debris Collection
WastePro is bringing in additional trucks and employees, but the city asks for patience because the cleanup process may take some time.
Garbage trucks will be running regular routes daily. They will take what is canned and containerized/in bags.
Boom trucks/claw trucks will be running through the area separately and collecting non-containerized bulk debris.
Kenner drop site will be open through this week from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Permitting
The City of Kenner requires permits for all development activity. This includes storm related repairs. Kenner participates in the National Flood Insurance Program and permitting is critical to remain in good standing and maintain flood insurance discounts for Kenner residents.
The City of Kenner will waive all permitting fees for Hurricane Francine related repairs and projects related to damaged property.
Temporary storage units placed on private property must be permitted, but there is no fee for this permit.
Residential Damage Reporting
GOHSEP has launched a property damage survey. The survey can be used to report damage to homes in the aftermath of Hurricane Francine. The survey is not for vehicles.
Information collected in the survey will help parish, state and federal authorities understand the location and severity of damage impacts.
General Updates
All Kenner Parks and Recreation programming, both indoor and outdoor, resumes Monday, except for all activity at Buddy Lawson Playground and Gym, which is suspended until further notice.
The Kenner Boat Launch at Laketown and the North Kenner Library have reopened.
All City of Kenner government offices have reopened.
According to a news release, a drive-through giveaway event will be hosted on Tuesday, Sept. 17, in collaboration with the Kenner Police Department, the City of Kenner Mayor and Council, Jefferson Parish Council District 4, Church of the King, Convoy of Hope, Waste Pro, Aetna and the Cajun Navy.
The release states that the event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Church of the King at 1405 West Esplanade Ave. The event will include the distribution of boxes with pantry items and cleaning supplies for more than 850 families.
