Idina Menzel joins '#badmoms' who forgot tooth fairy, supportive parents come to the rescue
It's certainly wince-worthy. But singer and actress Idina Menzel of "Frozen" fame isn't the first parent to forget the tooth fairy.
Menzel admitted that her 9-year-old son, Walker, awoke crying after she dozed off and forgot to play tooth fairy.
"The tooth fairy didn't show up last night," Menzel posted on Twitter. "Mom put tooth in tissue and son hid it under pillow. Then mom fell asleep and woke up this morning to son with tears. 'Tooth fairy didn't come.' That tooth fairy better get her s--t together. #badmoms"
Possible fixes
Parents who had been-there-done-that didn't think the Tony Award-winning actress should give up on the tooth fairy.
Actress Rachel Bay Jones suggested Menzel tell Walker the tooth fairy's bounty had simply fallen.
Other parents told Menzel excuses they used or she could offer until she could square things with Walker. Among the ideas they offered were that the tooth fairy faced:
Inclement weather.
An emergency dental conference.
That she only comes every other Friday because that's payday.
The tooth fairy is a federal employee and can't come because of the government shutdown.
One fan pointed out that a little sleight of hand can bring back the tooth fairy's magic.
Menzel, 47, married actor Taye Diggs, 48, in 2003. Their son, Walker, was born in 2009. The couple split in 2014.
She married Aaron Lohr in 2017.
