Illinois Tollway warns of I-PASS text message scam

ILLINOIS (WCIA) — The Illinois Tollway is warning I-PASS customers of a phishing scam being sent out in the form of text messages.

The text appears to come from “Illinois toll way” and details a specific toll amount that the customer owes.

One Central Illinois resident received the text below, which serves as an example of the scam:

The Illinois Tollway said in a release that customers should delete these messages and file a complaint here. Anyone still unsure of whether they have outstanding toll amounts should check their accounts online at www.illinoistollway.com or call customer service at 1-800-824-7277.
