'I'm A Celebrity' first look: Boy George chants through snake and scorpion-filled trial

Boy George can be seen keeping zen in the face of snakes and scorpions as he chants his way through a bushtucker trial in a first look at the latest episode of I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!.

For the first time since Matt Hancock entered camp a week ago, the controversial MP has not been voted by viewers to take on the daily trial - with Boy George, Chris Moyles and Babatunde Aléshé, who have all been critical of him, chosen to take his place instead.

They face Angel of Agony, a trial which sees the three campmates locked into boxes stacked on top of each other in a structure similar to the Angel of the North where Boy George, on the bottom layer, must unscrew stars and pass them up to his campmates above to win meals.

However, as he unscrews the stars he must reach into boxes filled with scorpions and snakes, while Aléshé and Moyles are showered with insects as they wait.

Buddhist Boy George appears not to be rattled by the challenge, though, as he continues the meditative chanting he has been practising throughout the series.

He calls out mid-chant: "The scorpions are my friends!" and seems equally calm with his next star, chanting while hosts Ant and Dec tell him: "Very careful, George, there's snakes in there."

The other campmates do not share his sense of calm, as a nervous Aléshé fumbles the star and drops it back down to Boy George, while Moyles, covered in critters, shouts: "Argh! Why did I wear shorts!"

In last night's episode, Boy George expressed his annoyance that Hancock as camp leader had suggested he wash some potatoes for dinner.

Talking in the Bush Telegraph, he said: "Matt was getting a little feisty earlier on when we were about to cook the meal... she’s loving this little bit of power."

He later told campmate Seann Walsh: "Watch, the worm is going to turn."

Viewers of the ITV show had voted for Hancock to take on six consecutive bushtucker trials following his entry into the show last week, but this is the first trial he has not been chosen to take on.

Some viewers have decided he deserves a break and think Boy George and Moyles have been too critical of him, while others have argued that ignoring the disgraced former health secretary and not giving him more screen time is a better way to deal with him.
