The Inbetweeners star Simon Bird gives disappointing update on reunion
Simon Bird has dashed fans' hopes for a new The Inbetweeners reunion.
The 40-year-old actor played Will McKenzie across three seasons and two movies between 2008 and 2014. His co-star Joe Thomas recently said the cast would be up for doing a reunion, but Bird said that's not going to become reality.
"I'm afraid to be the one pouring cold water on this but it's not happening," he told The Daily Mail. "I can tell you emphatically that there are no prospects of a reunion.
"We'd be happy to, but it's not up to us, it's up to the writers, Iain [Morris] and Damon [Beesley], and I know they're both very busy these days.

"It's not more likely to happen now than it was 10 years ago, I'm afraid," he added.
"I think it was a comedy that inhabited a certain time. I think I caused quite a storm on social media in a previous interview where I said it wouldn't be made now, but I'm not sure it would.
"So no, there has been no discussion about a new show or film."
He explained that the main cast members — Bird, Thomas, James Buckley, Blake Harrison — keep in touch and are "bonded for life", but trying to meet in person is difficult, with their next hangout planned for March.

He also stated that people often come up to him in the street and quote Will's lines back at him, but he often doesn't recognise what they're on about.
"I don't watch myself back, I can't remember the show," he said. "I don't think I've even watched it back since I made it in 2008.
"I just didn't expect it, in a way, but there's obviously still the appetite for it and people love it."
There was a reunion special called Fwends Reunited, hosted by Jimmy Carr, but fans didn't love that one.
The Inbetweeners can be streamed in full on the Channel 4 app/website.
