Incumbent Republican Rep. Eddie Andrews wins reelection for Iowa House District 43
Incumbent Republican Rep. Eddie Andrews won a third term in Iowa House District 43, which covers Johnston and parts of Urbandale and Saylorville.
Andrews received 51% of the votes to Democratic challenger Tiara Mays-Sims' 47.5%, according to unofficials results. Independent Brett Nelson received 1.5% of the votes, results show.
Andrews said he will continue working to help Iowans receive access to mental health care and resources. That includes his proposal to expand a psychiatric residency program at the University of Iowa and create incentives for doctors and mental health professionals to serve in the state.
"My top issue has been and continues to be increasing Iowans' access to mental health care," he said in a Des Moines Register candidate survey. "Ending human trafficking in Iowa is also a major priority."
