Independence drug bust leads to three arrests

INDEPENDENCE, La. (WGNO) — Three people were arrested following a drug bust in Independence on Wednesday, Aug. 14.
The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office reported that detectives searched a home on Adelante Street after receiving a tip about alleged drug activity.

During the search, TPSO detectives said they found packaged marijuana, heroin, scales and a gun reported as stolen from Baton Rouge.
According to the TPSO, “All of the items were accessible to a child in the home.”
After the search, deputies arrested 40-year-old Justin Cannon, 27-year-old Lorenzo Jones and 30-year-old Rodrica Jones in connection with the investigation.

Cannon faces charges of possession with the intent to distribute a schedule I controlled dangerous substance, possession of a CDS while possessing a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of CDS while in the presence of a person under the age of 17 years old.
Lorenzo Jones faces charges of possession with the intent to distribute a schedule I controlled dangerous substance, possession of a CDS while possessing a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of CDS while in the presence of a person under the age of 17 years old.
According to the sheriff’s Office, Lorenzo Jones “had a second charge of Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS).”
Rodrica Jones faces charges of simple possession of marijuana, possession of a CDS in the presence of a minor, child endangerment and letting a disorderly place.
