Indiana men arrested after Kansas sheriff finds 100 pounds of weed in traffic stop

SHAWNEE COUNTY (KSNT) – The Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office (SNCO) said two men from out-of-state were arrested Wednesday after an investigation revealed they allegedly had 100 pounds of marijuana in their vehicle.

The SNCO put out a press release on social media Thursday, July 11 announcing a K-9 deputy with the criminal interdiction unit pulled a Dodge Durango over on July 10 on SW Interstate 70 at mile marker 354 near SW Auburn Road. An investigation conducted during the stop showed 100 pounds of marijuana, valued at more than $62,000, was discovered.

A 27-year-old and 36-year-old from Indiana were arrested following this discovery. The NSCO booked them into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on charges of felony distribution of marijuana and felony possession of drug paraphernalia.

These arrests come a little more than a month after another Indiana man was arrested in Shawnee County after deputies found 120 pounds of marijuana and other illegal drugs during a traffic stop.
