Interstate 5 reopens after closure due to 4-car crash

Editor’s note: Oregon State Police released new details on the crash on I-5 later Thursday evening.

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A 4-car crash on Interstate 5 closed lanes south of Wilsonville for over 5 hours Thursday morning.

According to Oregon State Police, a call came in reporting the crash near the Aurora-Donald interchange just before 5:30 a.m. This prompted the complete closure of I-5 Southbound.

Traffic was rerouted around the crash at exit 282A and even detour traffic began backing up.

Shortly before noon, TripCheck showed that the highway had reopened.

Officials say the original incident started in the northbound lane, then vehicles reportedly moved through the cables into the southbound lane.

While further details of the crash are still unknown, OSP confirmed one person was Life-flighted to a nearby hospital.
