Jack Ryan's Abbie Cornish talks season 4 return
Jack Ryan season 4 spoilers follow.
Jack Ryan star Abbie Cornish has opened up to Digital Spy about her season 4 return and what's changed for her character.
Cornish originally appeared in the first season as Dr. Cathy Mueller, an infectious disease expert who was pursuing a romance with Jack (John Krasinski) until she found out he'd been lying about his CIA past.
Fans had long suspected it wouldn't be the last they saw of Cathy since she becomes Jack's wife in the Tom Clancy books, and while there's no telling if that will happen in the TV show, she's definitely back in a big way.

"Honestly, I knew a few months before we started shooting, [co-star] John called me," she said of her comeback "And he said that he really wanted me back on the show. And he pitched the idea that he had and he was working with, with the writers and producers, in terms of the storyline.
"And it was exciting to me. I mean, I I love the show. And I love the characters, and I love how much people enjoy watching it too. I get a great sense of satisfaction as an artist, when people tell me how much they love the show, and that they're really, like entertained and excited about it. So yeah, I was really happy to come back."
The actress hinted that viewers can expect to see Cathy much more involved in the high-octane action of Jack Ryan this time around.
"I enjoyed being a part of the action because I think season one for me, I was sort of on the side a little bit, you know, the girlfriend on the side, and there was some involvement," she recalled.
"But for me in season four, my character of Cathy Mueller is much more integrated into the narrative and into the action. And that was kind of fun for me. I was like, 'let's go'."
Betty Gabriel, who plays Elizabeth Wright, added that viewers can also expect to see her character take a more pivotal spot at the heart of the show too.
"It was both very challenging, and very cool and rewarding. And what I can't wait for the audience to see it is when I go in and give my speech in sort of introducing myself and saying, 'Hey, this is why I should be the director of the CIA'," the actress said.
"And I'm just walking into the room with so many background actors and the cameras, you know, they actually flash so it's like, oh, this is I don’t have to act that much. Because this is pretty full on and very cool."
Jack Ryan seasons 1-4 are streaming now on Prime Video.
