The Inbetweeners star James Buckley is focusing his attention on his gaming career after growing tired with the acting industry.

The actor, who played Jay in the E4 comedy, has accrued an impressive following on social media and is looking to further his profile as a gamer.

The 32-year-old told The Sun newspaper's Bizarre TV column: "I'm not that excited about the industry and I haven't been for a while. I'm really enjoying the stuff I'm doing with my Twitch channel.

"It feels like a little business that I've got control of. I'm running it and talking to sponsors and trying to be taken seriously in that sphere now."

He has 419,000 subscribers on his YouTube channel 'Completed It Mate', which takes its name from a quote of his Inbetweeners character. He also has 173,2000 followers on his Twitch channel - a platform that allows users to live stream gaming and interact with their followers - of the same name.

Aside from the popular coming-of-age series and its resulting two films, Buckley has also starred in sitcom White Gold as well guest roles in series such as Red Dwarf and Doctor Who.

But Buckley isn't concentrating on high-profile roles at the moment, prefer to channel his energy into the "special content" created through gaming streaming sites.

"I can't remember the last time something was on television or on traditional media that made me think it was new and fresh," he said.

In the past, the star has candidly spoken about how he struggles with being recognised in public as it makes him anxious and uncomfortable.

Buckley has been married to wife Clair Meek, a Scottish model, since 2012 and the pair share two sons, Harrison and Jude.
