James Corden shares Gavin & Stacey script update
James Corden has shared an update on the upcoming Gavin & Stacey Christmas special.
Appearing on the Chris Evans Breakfast Show on Thursday (July 18), the Smithy actor confirmed that he and co-creator Ruth Jones had finally completed the script for the festive episode.
"We finished it yesterday," he told Evans on the Virgin Radio show, revealing that the two "had a drink" to celebrate the occasion.

"We actually sent the cast a photo on our little chat group saying, 'We've finished our shows and we finished the rewrites and a script will be winding its way to you guys'," he continued.
"It'll be going... I guess they'll get the script, I guess, in the next few days."
In June, Corden confirmed that filming on the Christmas special would take place in September or October, but revealed that he and Ruth had yet to finish the script.
In his latest update, Corden explained that he often finds "rewrites are harder than any writing".

"Writing is really fun, because you can just go anything can happen," he said.
"But when you rewrite stuff, you're dealing with a lot of logistics and 'Look, we might not be able to shoot that' or 'This needs to be in this location. Is there any way this can change?' And frankly, it's too long.
"What we have been doing the last few weeks really is just trying to make it as economical as possible."
Gavin & Stacey's festive return was confirmed by Corden and Jones in May 2024 after months of rumours. Corden shared a photo of the two of them together on Instagram posing with a script which read 'Gavin and Stacey: the finale'.
The beloved BBC comedy was last on screens in 2019 with a Christmas special that ended with a cliffhanger proposal.
Nessa got down on one knee to Smithy in the final few moments, though the episode ended without an answer to the question.
Gavin & Stacey series 1-3 are available to stream on BBC iPlayer. The Gavin & Stacey 2024 Christmas special will air on Christmas Day on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
