James Corden shares huge Gavin & Stacey filming update
James Corden has shared an exciting update on the Gavin & Stacey Christmas special.
The Smithy actor, who also co-writes the beloved BBC comedy with Ruth Jones, revealed the cast are travelling to Wales to begin filming the festive episode.
Corden gave the show update in a new Instagram post commemorating the end of his recent production The Constituent at London's Old Vic Theatre.

"Tonight was the last night of The Constituent @oldvictheatre," his caption began, shared alongside a video of him giving his final bow on stage. "I can’t tell you what being in the play has meant to me. It’s been life-changing."
After praising his co-stars, Corden signed off with details of his next gig. "It’s off to Barry Island now for the next 7 weeks! All my love, James," he wrote.
Gavin & Stacey fans will be familiar with the seaside resort, based in the Vale of Glamorgan, which serves as Stacey's home in the show, where her mum Gwen, Uncle Bryn and best friend Nessa also reside.

The August filming date is slightly earlier than the actor estimated, with Corden previously telling Zoe Ball on her BBC Radio 2 Breakfast show that he expected shooting to begin around "September/October" time.
In the same interview, he admitted that this filming timeline would be "tight to get it in and delivered", which perhaps suggests why production is starting a little earlier.
The Gavin & Stacey Christmas special was finally confirmed in May this year following months of rumours. The two show creators made the announcement in an Instagram post, uploading a photo of Corden and Jones together holding up a Gavin & Stacey script.
This year's festive special will mark the first time the show has been on air since 2019, when Gavin & Stacey returned for a Christmas special that ended with a significant cliffhanger proposal.
