Jay Chou appears as special guest on JJ Lin's Taipei concert
SINGAPORE — Singapore's mandopop superstar JJ Lin is in the midst of his JJ20 World Tour in Taipei, and he had a very special guest during the second night of his sold-out concerts at the Rakuten Taoyuan Baseball Stadium on Sunday (4 December) - fellow mandopop king Jay Chou.
The 43-year-old Taiwanese pop star appeared on stage to duet with Lin, who subsequently included a photo of him and Chou together in a series of concert pics on his Instagram page.
In the Instagram post, the 41-year-old wrote, "Day 2 of the JJ20 World Tour in Taipei was a blast! Looks like you guys ain’t afraid of that little bit of rain.
"Thank you all for being part of my 20 years, may the music live on and grow in your hearts in the coming days.
"Thanks bro @jaychou for being such an amazing guest, a Double J reunion indeed!"
Following their duet, Chou also performed a couple of his hits to the delighted 30,000-strong audience.
Amid their stage banter, Lin had asked Chou jokingly why they had never recorded a duet, given that Chou has frequently collaborated with fellow mandopop stars, such as Mayday lead singer Ashin.
"Next time, it will be the three of us," Lin told Chou, in reference to a possible collaboration together with Ashin.
Chou to bring his world tour to Singapore
Chou had also shared photos and clips earlier on Instagram Stories while Lin was rehearsing backstage during the day.
“The good thing about being here as a guest star is that I can get up close and personal to listen to the Walking CD,” he wrote, referring to Lin by his nickname, given because of his reported ability to sing almost any song.
Chou will be bringing his own Carnival World Tour to Singapore on 17 and 18 December at the Singapore Sports Hub's National Stadium. The tour was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and Chou has not performed live since the tour was held over.
Lin's JJ20 World Tour will next head to Malaysia at the end of the month, before he heads on to the United States, Hong Kong, Australia, France and Britain next year.
