JC native makes it to live rounds of 'The Voice'

Nov. 14—He's still in it.

Junction City native Justin Aaron Black was set to compete Monday and Tuesday night in the live playoff rounds of NBC's "The Voice."

Last week, Black, who's performing as Justin Aaron, beat out his competition by singing "Can We Talk," by Tevin Campbell and won his knockout round on the show.

"The thing that really gives me peace is we're still all on the same level playing field," he said in a recent video. "Now it's all up to America to vote. You know, American decides who stays and who goes home. So I can only hope America loves me and wants me to stay around."

Live rounds include the top 16 performers. Viewers vote, and the top artists automatically stay, while the bottom two stand before the judges and each coach is able to pick one contestant. The other person is eliminated. The live rounds go through mid-December.

Black is a paraeducator at Junction City High School. He is an alumnus of Junction City High School. He's also a praise and worship leader who sings gospel and R&B music.

"The Voice" airs at 7 p.m. on Mondays and Tuesdays and streams on Peacock.
