JCPS board has no clue what they're doing voting to end busing for magnet schools
By now it’s clear, Jefferson County Public Schools has no idea what they’re doing, except experimenting with our children and complete disregard for parents.
First, they changed the school times for busing, and now they are ending busing for magnet schools, leaving parents with more questions than answers. My two daughters are enrolled at Barrett and Greathouse Shylock Traditional Schools and I for one have several questions, for which I could not ask the board because they secretly rammed this discussion through to escape being lambasted by the public to their faces.
One question, I planned to ask the board, was what happens with magnet school start times? Do they revert to last year or stay the same? Who makes that decision the school board or local PTA? For all the complaining JCPS School Board does about the state legislature, they seem to be borrowing their underhand tactics. I for one would like to recall Marty Pollio and the School Board for ineptitude and negligence. It’s time we elect school officials who have a coherent systematic approach.

Hope dies last
JCPS's school board, by ending bus transportation to Du Pont Manual High School, the Commonwealth's highest ranked school, just told poor children, "Don't aim too high!" "Don't study too hard, dream too widely!" My husband taught chemistry for many years at Manual, mentoring students from diverse backgrounds to successful careers. Public schools are supposed to open doors for all. I weep and rage.
