JEFFERSON PARISH, La. (WGNO) — The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office has released more details surrounding an Instagram video showing a deputy allegedly fighting two women.
According to the sheriff’s office, the incident occurred on Monday, July 15 while detectives were investigating a possible overdose death of a woman who was dropped off at a local hospital.
Detectives began investigating the source of the drugs, which may have caused the overdose and identified a suspect, Renell Polk, who was intercepted and taken into custody while allegedly carrying 22 grams of fentanyl.

While waiting for a tow truck to seize Polk’s vehicle, two women, Angeline Parks and Deshon Parks, allegedly approached it and tried to take the vehicle before being stopped by the detective.
One of the women then reportedly tried to make a phone call, which the detective believed was to warn individuals at Polk’s home about a search warrant that had been obtained for it. This began a struggle for the phone, which escalated when one of the women allegedly punched the detective in the face.
The fight continued and involved both women over the course of 45 seconds, of which the last five were caught on camera by Deshon. The JPSO’s press release included a nearby surveillance video, which shows a large portion of the fight leading up to the Instagram clip.
Polk was arrested on multiple drug charges including possession with intent to distribute.
