Jimmy Fallon Makes Strong Prediction About Taylor Swift’s Effect on Politics
Jimmy Fallon believes the next industry to feel the effect of Taylor Swift and her loyal fanbase will be connected to the U.S. political landscape.
During Tuesday's episode of The Tonight Show, the comedian and TV personality joined the chorus of voices commenting on the international pop superstar's recent decision to endorse Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz in the upcoming presidential election.
Fallon, who turns 50 on Thursday, Sept. 19, first reminded viewers that it was National Voter Registration Day, an annual event held since 2012 that encourages Americans to register to vote.
"All I know is, if Swifties took down Ticketmaster, vote.gov is doomed," the late night host teased, referencing the 34-year-old Grammy winner's fans crashing the platform of the major ticket vendor during the Eras tour presale.
The show's social team doubled down on the suggestion, writing in a Sept. 17 Instagram post: "Look what you made @taylorswift do."
As Parade previously reported, immediately following the presidential debate on Sept. 10, the 14-time Grammy winner issued a statement condemning the 45th president for his use of AI imagery of Swift and urging her fans to participate in the Tuesday, Nov. 5, election.
"If you haven’t already, now is a great time to do your research on the issues at hand and the stances these candidates take on the topics that matter to you the most. As a voter, I make sure to watch and read everything I can about their proposed policies and plans for this country," Swift wrote.
"I’ve done my research, and I’ve made my choice. Your research is all yours to do, and the choice is yours to make," she continued. Swift concluded with another important reminder, "Remember that in order to vote, you have to be registered," noting that she would be providing links to voter registration resources in her Instagram Story.
