John Wick getting new spin-off with returning character
John Wick could be getting another new spin-off, and work seems to be moving ahead with a film focusing on the character Caine.
Deadline is reporting that actor Donnie Yen has signed a deal to return as the blind assassin introduced in John Wick: Chapter 4, and that studio Lionsgate has announced production is set to take place next year in Hong Kong.
Plot details are being kept under wraps, but Caine's first and so-far only film appearance saw him unshackled from the High Table, while Rina Sawayama's Akira tracked him down to Paris in her hunt for revenge in the post-credits scene.
At the time of writing, it hasn't been confirmed whether or not Sawayama will return for the spin-off.

Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chair Adam Fogelson is quoted as stating: From the moment Donnie Yen appeared on screen in John Wick: Chapter 4, he captivated audiences and created an authentic, emotional connection that left an indelible mark and had fans asking for more.
"The John Wick universe that Chad, Basil, Erica, and Keanu have built offers a tapestry of fascinating characters brought to life by the most extraordinary performers, and we're excited to have one of the world’s biggest superstars on board to continue this journey."
The first major John Wick film spin-off is Ballerina, starring Ana de Armas as a female assassin seeking vengeance, which had completed filming last year but was recently pushed back by a year, in order to undergo reshoots.
