Joplin man pleads guilty in fatal hit-and-run case
JOPLIN, Mo. — A Joplin man pleads guilty in connection to a deadly hit-and-run crash.
Earlier today, Ruben Blanco, 49, pleaded guilty to one count of leaving the scene of a crash resulting in death.
As part of his plea deal, the prosecutor agreed not to pursue a charge of driving while revoked.
Blanco is scheduled to be sentenced on September 23.
Police arrested Blanco on January 10th, two days after he hit and killed Eva Havelock, 55, of Joplin.
Officers say Blanco was driving eastbound on 7th Street near Gray Avenue when he hit Havelock and then left the scene.
Havelock died the following morning from her injuries.
