Juvenile charged in deadly shooting of Kansas City restaurant owner

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Jackson County Juvenile Court officials have charged one male juvenile in connection to the shooting and killing of restaurant owner Shaun Brady.

The juvenile suspect, who has not been identified, is charged with second-degree murder, attempted stealing of a motor vehicle and armed criminal action.

The court says there will be a hearing to figure out if the juvenile suspect should be tried as an adult. He will appear in court on Friday at 9 a.m.

Brady, 44, died after the incident that happened around 5:15 p.m., on Wednesday near 63rd and Rockhill Road. Kansas City police say they found him shot behind a restaurant. Emergency responders took Brady to a hospital, but he died from his injuries.

Investigators say he was taking out trash when he saw a group of people by a vehicle. Police say witnesses told them Brady was trying to stop someone from breaking into the vehicle when he was shot.

No charges have been announced for a second juvenile arrested in connection to the incident.
