Kamala Harris agrees to first Fox News interview Wednesday

With three weeks left until Election Day, and amid a packed campaign schedule, Vice President Kamala Harris will sit for her first interview with Fox News.

The network announced Monday that its chief political anchor Bret Baier will interview Harris on Wednesday in Pennsylvania, a key battleground state. Their conversation will be prerecorded in the afternoon and will air later that night on Baier's "Special Report" at 6 p.m. ET.

The Democratic presidential candidate's decision to sit for the interview comes after the network invited the presidential frontrunners to debate in late October. Republican nominee former President Donald Trump declined that invitation after their first matchup in September.

Since launching her bid for the White House, Harris has received criticism for not accepting many sit-down interviews with traditional news outlets. She has ramped up media appearances in recent weeks, including a "60 Minutes" interview that aired last Monday.

President Joe Biden has not appeared on Fox News since assuming office in 2021. Democratic officials have, in large part, avoided interviews with the network watched by many conservatives. However, in an apparent attempt to reach moderate and "Never Trump" voters, more members of the party started making appearances on its network.

Harris' running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, made the case for the Democratic ticket in two back-to-back appearances on "Fox News Sunday."

Trump will take part in a pre-taped televised town hall hosted by Fox News on Tuesday. The event will feature an all-female audience and focus on “women’s issues” as he tries to win support from the crucial voting bloc that has gravitated toward Harris.

This year, Baier co-led Fox News' coverage of the Democratic and Republican national conventions, the network said. He has also moderated Republican presidential primary debates and a January town hall with Trump.
