Vice President Kamala Harris has detailed the moment President Joe Biden requested that she step up as the Democratic nominee for the office of President.

During her hour-long chat with Shannon Sharpe on his Club Shay Shay podcast, the Oakland, Calif. native revealed that she was with her family when Biden called, changing the trajectory of her career, and possibly the country. The call followed concerns over Pres. Biden’s age and mental capacity to lead for another four years.

“I was home, it was a Sunday afternoon,” she began. “My niece, her husband and their two young daughters were visiting and staying with us, and I promised the kids I’d have pancakes and bacon and everything. And then, after that, I had a puzzle for the kids and we would sit down to do the puzzle, and the phone rang. And it was President Biden. And, so, that’s when he told me, and it was obviously life-changing in so many ways.”

“I’ll never forget that call or that moment or that day.”

She went on to say she and her team made “over 100 phone calls” that day in preparation for the task at hand. Check out VP Harris on Club Shay Shay below.
