Following the shocking news that President Biden would be stepping down from the 2024 election and backing VP Kamala Harris, the Democrat Party has showed massive support for her — especially monetarily.

ActBlue — the Democrat fundraising platform — revealed on Sunday night (Jul 21), that nearly $50,000,000 had been raised from small donors to fund Harris’ election campaign along with other Democratic houses.

“As of 9pm ET, grassroots supporters have raised $46.7 million through ActBlue following Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign launch,” ActBlue’s official X account announced. “This has been the biggest fundraising day of the 2024 cycle. Small-dollar donors are fired up and ready to take on this election.”

According to the New York Times, Sunday became the “single biggest day for online Democratic contributions since the 2020 election.”

Democratic strategist Kenneth Pennington also expressed the same sentiment on X, calling Harris’ support: “the greatest fundraising moment in Democratic Party history.”

President Joe Biden announced his decision yesterday (July 11), which would forfeit any chances at a second term. However, his focus is now on finishing his current tenure as Head Of State. His move comes after revealing he contracted COVID and also being advised to fall back by peers.

“It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve as your President. And while it has been my intention to seek reelection, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term,” wrote the 81-year-old in a open letter shared across his social media accounts.

Following his revelation, the POTUS fully endorsed VP Harris as his replacement to defeat Trump for the White House.

“My fellow Democrats, I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energies on my duties as President for the remainder of my term,” he said in another post on X. “My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it’s been the best decision I’ve made.”

“Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this,” he continued.
