Kamala Harris, Tim Walz to campaign Monday in Ann Arbor with singer Maggie Rogers
Democratic nominee and Vice President Kamala Harris will hold an event Monday in Ann Arbor along with her vice presidential running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, and singer-songwriter Maggie Rogers, her campaign said Friday.
No other details were provided about the event, which comes eight days before the presidential election on Nov. 5 to be decided between Harris and Republican former President Donald Trump. But the decision to come to Ann Arbor ? home to the University of Michigan ? means Harris is trying to make a strong pitch to younger, college-age voters. Rogers released a new album this year titled, "Don't Forget Me."

Harris has been spending a great deal of time in Michigan, a key battleground state, of late: Last Friday, she held three events before campaigning last Saturday in southeastern Michigan with rapper Lizzo. Earlier this week she was in Oakland County with Republican former U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney and she was set to campaign in Kalamazoo on Saturday with former first lady Michelle Obama.
Trump, meanwhile, has also been spending a lot of time in the state. He, too, had multiple events last Friday and was back this Friday to campaign in Traverse City. On Saturday, he was scheduled to hold an event in Novi.
The Harris campaign has increasingly been leaning on entertainment personalities as part of its campaign. Rapper Eminem appeared at a Detroit rally this week with former President Barack Obama and Harris has held events with singers Stevie Wonder and Bruce Springsteen in Georgia.
