Kamala Harris's stepdaughter knocks JD Vance over 'childless cat ladies' remarks
WASHINGTON - Vice President Kamala Harris's stepdaughter, Ella Emhoff, wasted no time knocking Ohio Sen. JD Vance for his remarks claiming that Harris was one of the “childless cat ladies” who “are miserable at their own lives and the choices that they've made.”
The remarks from Vance came in an interview with former Fox news host Tucker Carlson in 2021. The interview resurfaced this week as Vance made his debut as Trump’s official running mate.
Vance claimed in the 2021 interview that "If you look at Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg, AOC, the entire future of the Democrats is controlled by people without children." His comments drew criticism from Democrats and Hollywood stars, including Transportation secretary Pete Buttigieg and Jennifer Aniston.
Ella Emhoff reposted the statement on her Instagram story with the text, “How can you be ‘childless’ when you have cutie pie kids like Cole and I," referring to her brother.
In a statement to CNN, Kerstin Emhoff, Ella and Cole Emhoff's mother and ex-wife to second gentleman Doug Emhoff, said that, “For over 10 years, since Cole and Ella were teenagers, Kamala has been a co-parent with Doug and I. She is loving, nurturing, fiercely protective, and always present. I love our blended family and am grateful to have her in it.”
Ella Emhoff tagged her mother’s Instagram handle writing, "Say it louder for the people in the back” and added, “I love my three parents.”
