KCPD identifies man killed in Saturday night Kansas City shooting

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — KCPD has identified the man who died Saturday night after suffering from an apparent gunshot wound in the 1200 block of Bellaire Avenue in Kansas City, Mo.

According to police, the victim is 47-year-old Daniel Vernassie.

KCPD reports that units were dispatched to the neighborhood just before 8 p.m. after receiving a report of a car on the road that was not moving. Officers then found Bernassie in that car suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

EMS pronounced Bernassie dead on the scene.

This is being investigated as a homicide. Detectives are canvassing the area to locate any possible witnesses. Crime scene investigators are also processing the scene for any physical evidence.

Detectives are working to identify all parties invovled, as well as, the events that led up to the victim being shot.

KCPD says that little is known at this time, but it is believed to be an isolated incident.
