She worked for the Delaware Department of Services for Children, Youth and Their Families before stepping in to head the Delaware Center for Justice, a nonprofit which provides social services to Delaware residents impacted by the criminal justice system.
In 2019, she stepped down from the Delaware Center for Justice to work on her father's campaign.
According to a 2023 profile in Elle, Ashley Biden is now pursuing a doctorate in clinical social work at the University of Pennsylvania. She hopes to open a wellness space for women experiencing trauma.

According to reporting from Axios, the text was a "recovery diary" from her time in a Florida rehab in 2019.
In April, Harris pleaded guilty to stealing Biden's diary and selling it. Harris was sentenced to one month of prison and three months of house arrest, the Associated Press reported.
