The state’s current COVID-19 wastewater viral activity is very high, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The CDC stated that wastewater, or sewage, can be tested to detect traces of infectious diseases in a community, even if people do not show symptoms.

A person who tests positive for COVID-19 should isolate themselves for at least five days, according to LDH. Anyone with a respiratory illness should rest for at least 24 hours until symptoms get better and if they have not had a fever.

Medications to treat COVID-19 have to be prescribed by a healthcare provider and started within a week after symptoms appear, the CDC said.

Those without a healthcare provider can go to a Test to Treat location for treatment at little to no cost. There are several around Baton Rouge including Prescriptions to Geaux, Bourg’s Drug Store and various Walgreens locations.
