Election Day is just around the corner, and some early voting numbers are already smashing records.

There are many ways to ensure your voice is heard this general election season. Most states and counties allow voters to submit ballots ahead of Election Day. Some automatically send voters mail-in ballots and offer ballot tracking, but others require voters provide an excuse to vote early or absentee. If they haven't already, all registered voters will have a chance to cast their ballot in person on Nov. 5.

Voting deadlines and rules vary across the country. Our How to Vote Guide in English and Spanish breaks down how to vote — plus important deadlines to know — in all 50 states and Washington DC:

State and local election offices assign your polling site based on your address. It's best to vote at your assigned location if voting on Election Day. If you try to vote somewhere else, you may have to cast a provisional ballot, and your vote may not be counted in some states.

Although the presidential race will be center stage, voters around the country will determine the outcome of several federal, state and local races on Nov. 5.

USA TODAY's 2024 Voter Guide explains where Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump stand on the issues, looks at key congressional races, and examines past elections for possible insights into this year's results.
