Krish Mohip backs out as finalist for East Baton Rouge Schools superintendent
BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — One of the finalists for the next East Baton Rouge Schools superintendent backed out on Saturday, July 6, according to EBR School Board President Carla Powell-Lewis.
Krish Mohip, one of three candidates who advanced as a finalist for the superintendent position during an EBR School Board meeting on Friday, June 28, backed out after he accepted another position, Powell-Lewis said.
“From all my research about the district and conversations with many stakeholders, it is clear that EBR is a community where education is a priority. The district has much to celebrate, as well as some opportunities for improvement. While I believe my leadership would have had an immediate, positive impact on students, staff and families, the remaining candidates are both well equipped to do the same.
“I have accepted another opportunity and will not be seeking the position of superintendent for EBR any longer. I wish the district well in the future.

The other two finalists are Kevin George and Andrea Zayas.
Adam Smith, the school system’s interim superintendent, was not selected as a finalist. Community members started a petition calling for him to get the position.
The new superintendent is expected to be announced during a special school board meeting on Thursday, July 11, according to EBR Schools.
