La Brea confirmed to be ending with season 3
NBC sci-fi drama La Brea will end after its third season.
As reported by Deadline, the series will conclude with an abbreviated season that will consist of six episodes.
La Brea follows the Harris family, who get separated across space and time when a giant sinkhole opens in Los Angeles — pulling people and buildings into a primaeval land. Forced to work together to survive, the series documents how the family try to reunite following the catastrophic events.

The cast includes Natalie Zea, Eoin Macken, Jon Seda, Nicholas Gonzalez, Chiké Okonkwo, Zyra Gorecki, Jack Martin, Veronica St. Clair, Rohan Mirchandaney, Lily Santiago, Josh McKenzie, Tonantzin Carmelo and Michelle Vergara Moore.
Season three will premiere on Tuesday, January 9 at 9pm on NBC, with the final two episodes serving as a lead into the crime-drama Found.
Creator and showrunner David Appelbaum returns for the final outing, executive producing alongside Chris Hollier, Peter Traugott, Rachel Kaplan, Avi Nir and Alon Shtruzman.

After production of the show's pilot was postponed by the pandemic in 2020, La Brea's 10-episode first season debuted in 2021 — quickly earning a second season renewal. Season two production was also derailed, this time as a result of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, which forced NBC to opt for a shorter season than the originally planned 14-episode return.
As part of a host of shows to be cancelled by US TV networks, La Brea joins the likes of The Good Lawyer and The Rookie: Feds in meeting their conclusion.
The spin-off of police procedural The Rookie was recently axed by ABC after its first season despite its growing viewership, according to TVLine. The production of The Good Doctor's legal spin-off The Good Lawyer was similarly stopped after its first season, following the end of Hollywood's months-long picketing.
The final season of La Brea premieres on January 9.
