Lakeland Regional Health names behavioral center for Harrells
Lakeland Regional Health will name its new facility the Harrell Family Center for Behavioral Wellness to recognize a donation from Jack and Tina Harrell.
LRH didn’t reveal the amount of the contribution but described it as “a transformational naming gift” in a news release. The 80,000-square-foot facility, which will have 96 beds, is under construction and scheduled to open in late summer.

Jack Harrell is CEO of Harrell’s, a Lakeland company specializing in fertilizer production and sales. Jack and Tina Harrell, longtime Lakeland residents, created Harrell Family Charities in 2016. Their involvement with Lakeland Regional Health includes support of the Bannasch Institute for Advanced Rehabilitation Medicine and the Jack and Tina Harrell Institute for Advanced Cardiovascular Medicine, the release said.
Jack Harrell joined the Lakeland Regional Health System Board of Directors in 2006 and served as Board Chair from 2013 to 2015. The health system named Jack and Tina Harrell its Philanthropists of the Year this year.
“Our family is passionate about helping those in our community have access to all areas of the highest quality healthcare,” Jack Harrell said in the release. “As a community, we need to erase the stigma of mental illness and that is why we have decided to attach our name to this project. We are hopeful that we can help pave the way for others to join in this movement to help others understand the importance of behavioral health and wellness.”
