Large boa constrictor rescued from vacant Erie County home
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Authorities came across quite the “sss-urprising” sight when a large boa constrictor was discovered in a vacant Erie County home earlier this month, according to the DEC.
The DEC was called to the vacant home around midnight on Aug. 2 after Lackawanna Police requested assistance with a large, unknown species of snake that was reportedly found by an individual, the DEC said.
The reptile was taken possession of by a DEC officer not long after the call and identified as a boa constrictor.
The snake was taken to an animal hospital for evaluation, and a reptile rescue group will eventually find it a new home, according to the DEC.
