Large house fire causes home to collapse on Pooley Place

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A large house fire caused a home on Pooley Place to collapse on Wednesday morning.

The fire broke out in the area of 62 and 64 Pooley around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday. As of just after 6 a.m., the fire has gone to a second alarm and firefighters are still working to get the blaze under control. The fire was hot enough to melt the siding on homes across the street.

Firefighters said that eight people in the house were evacuated, but a firefighter told a WIVB News 4 that all of the residents got out safe. One is recovering from smoke inhalation and one suffered an ankle injury.

In addition, two firefighters suffered minor injuries.

The structure will be demolished later Wednesday morning. It is currently unclear what caused the fire. Damages are estimated at $275,000. Additional damage at surrounding residences is estimated at an additional $65,000.

This is a developing story, check back for updates.
