Last-minute need to knows for KS Primary Election
TOPEKA (KSNT) – Election Day can be stressful. Here’s some last-minute details and information to help prepare voters for the 2024 Primary Election.
If you are a registered Democrat, Republican, or an Unaffiliated voter who wishes to join a party, you’re able to vote in the Kansas Primary election Tuesday, Aug. 6. The deadline to register to vote for this election was July 16. There are 87 different polling locations throughout Shawnee County.
Shawnee County Election Commissioner, Andrew Howell, told 27 News he encourages voters to to know where their assigned polling location is throughout the county.
“I just encourage people to, you know, know where your polling location is, and make sure you know the route that is open and available,” Howell said.

Washburn University welcomes new degree this fall
Election workers throughout Shawnee County are working hard to ensure a smooth election process for voters.
“We’ve tried to make it so you can get in and get out quickly and efficiently. Make sure we have plenty of ADA, parking, and meeting the ADA requirements,” Howell said. “There will be a team of democrats and republican election workers to assist you, and you’re welcome to call the election office for questions.”
The Shawnee County elections office hopes to have election results in by late Tuesday night. KSNT 27 News will have live updates on the election on our website.
