Rocket launches during May 2024 by SpaceX and NASA from Cape Canaveral, Florida

During May, nine rockets lifted off from Florida's Space Coast — home of NASA's Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.

Here's that list of May launches from Cape Canaveral. All were SpaceX missions that deployed Starlink broadband satellites into low-Earth orbit.

1. SpaceX Starlink 6-55

Multicolored flames trailing from a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket treated Brevard County spectators to a spectacular show as another Starlink mission soared along a southeasterly trajectory at 10:37 p.m. May 2 from CCSFS Launch Complex 40.

2. SpaceX Starlink 6-57

SpaceX sent another Falcon 9 rocket roaring skyward amid sunshine and shimmering heat waves at 2:14 p.m. May 6 from Launch Complex at CCSFS.

3. SpaceX Starlink 6-56

Liftoff took three hours and 42 minutes longer than anticipated. But a thrice-delayed SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket finally launched from pad 39A at 2:42 p.m. May 8 at NASA's Kennedy Space Center.

4. SpaceX Starlink 6-58

Originally set to liftoff at 8:11 p.m. on Sunday, May 12, SpaceX announced Sunday afternoon that the launch was postponed until 8:53 p.m. that night. The Falcon 9 lifted off without further delay from Cape Canaveral Space Launch Complex 40.

5. SpaceX Starlink 6-59

A SpaceX Falcon 9 lifted off Friday, May 17 at 8:32 p.m. from Cape Canaveral Space Launch Complex - 40. The timing of the sunset launch created a "jellyfish" effect in the sky. The booster saw its 21st launch and landing.

6. SpaceX Starlink 6-62

The night launch lifted off at 10:35 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22 from Cape Canaveral Launch Complex 40. With an on time liftoff, SpaceX launched the first of back-to-back Starlink launches.

7. SpaceX Starlink 6-63

Another SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launch added 23 more satellites to the ever-expanding Starlink constellation, notching the second of back-to-back Starlink night launches from the Cape at 10:45 p.m. Thursday, May 23, from KSC pad 39A.

8. SpaceX Starlink 6-60

Another Falcon 9 rocket delivered 23 Starlink satellites into orbit after multiple delays. Liftoff occurred at 10:24 a.m. on Tuesday, May 28 from Space Launch Complex 40.

9. SpaceX Starlink 6-64

A Falcon 9 rocket carried a batch of Starlink satellites to orbit at 10:37 p.m. on Friday, May 31 from Cape Canaveral Launch Complex 40. The launch was delayed twice before lifting off at the end of the launch window.
