Law Enforcement Source Provides New Details About 'Multiple People' Involved in Matthew Perry's Death
Law enforcement shared some surprising news regarding Matthew Perry's death in October 2023 at the age of 54.
An investigative source revealed to People that police are almost done with the investigation into the actor's death, and as a result of their findings, they allegedly believe that "multiple people" should be charged for their involvement in Perry's passing.
They added that the U.S. Attorney's Office would make the final decision as to whether or not to charge the individuals after the conclusion of the investigation. The publication reportedly reached out to the U.S. Attorney's Office and received "no comment" in response.
In December 2023, the toxicology report for Perry's death stated that he died of "acute effects of ketamine," while also noting that drowning, coronary artery disease, and buprenorphine, a drug used to treat opioid use disorder, were contributing factors.
At the time, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner closed its investigation, ruling Perry's death as accidental, but soon after, the Los Angeles Police Department began an investigation into his death and the surrounding circumstances, working with the DEA and the U.S. Postal Inspector to find out where the ketamine in Perry's system came from.
According to Perry's autopsy, via People, the Friends actor was undergoing ketamine infusion therapy at the time of his death, with his most recent treatment reportedly "one and a half weeks before" his passing.
But the coroner concluded that "the ketamine in his system at death could not be from that infusion therapy, since ketamine's half-life is 3 to 4 hours, or less." They also noted that Perry was "reportedly clean for 19 months."
Throughout the ongoing investigation at the LAPD, Charlie Sheen's ex-wife, actress Brooke Mueller, has reportedly been questioned in relation to Perry's death, with a source telling In Touch that she has been "completely cooperative” but also hired lawyers. Perry and Mueller reportedly met in rehab and became friends.
Perry, well-known for his successful acting career, opened up about his personal struggles with drug abuse, his mental health and more in his book, Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing, released in 2022.
