Law & Order season 24 adds ER star to cast
ER star Maura Tierney has joined the cast of Law & Order.
According to TVLine, the actor has been cast in the procedural drama’s upcoming 24th season as a series regular.
While character details are being kept under wraps, Tierney is rumoured to be playing a new lieutenant.
Tierney is known for her role as Abby Lockhart on ER from 1999 to 2009.

Her casting in the series comes shortly after Camryn Manheim made her final appearance as Lieutenant Kate Dixon in the season 23 finale.
Ahead of her exit, show creator Dick Wolf said in a statement: "I thank Camryn for her three wonderful seasons helping us relaunch Law & Order. She is a class act, and I wish her nothing but the best for her next chapter."
Meanwhile, news of Manheim's departure followed Sam Waterston's exit after more than 400 episodes in the role of District Attorney Jack McCoy.

Following its release in cinemas last week, Twisters has already surpassed its predecessor on Rotten Tomatoes with a critics' score of 77%, compared to the original film's rating of 63%.
Law & Order airs on Thursdays at 8pm ET on NBC, followed by Law & Order: Special Victims Unit at 9pm and Law & Order: Organized Crime at 10pm. The shows air on Sky Witness in the UK, with select episodes available on NOW.
