What's leaving Netflix Canada: Time is running out to watch 'Arrested Development'
The Breakfast Club, Planes, Trains & Automobiles, Wedding Crashers and the 1996 thriller Primal Fear are among the movies being removed from Netflix
Not only has Netflix rubbed some subscribers the wrong way by cracking down on password sharing, it's also removing the beloved show Arrested Development on March 15.
The 2000s comedy series, starring Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, Jeffrey Tambor, Tony Hale, David Cross, Portia de Rossi, Michael Cera, Alia Shawkat and the late Jessica Walter, was also given a "remix" Season 4 in 2013, followed by a fifth season, released in two parts, in 2018 and 2019.
In addition to Arrested Development Netflix is removing some other iconic TV shows and movies from its Canadian platform in March, including the John Hughes hits The Breakfast Club and Planes, Trains & Automobiles.
The Renée Zellweger and Colin Firth romantic comedy Bridget Jones’s Diary is also leaving Netflix, but the third film in the series, Bridget Jones's Baby, will remain on the platform. Another film with Firth, Girl with a Pearl Earring, which also stars Scarlett Johansson, is leaving the streaming site as well.
A couple of Sean Penn movies are leaving Netflix in March, including The Interpreter with Penn and Nicole Kidman, and Fair Game, which also stars Naomi Watts.
The 1997 thriller movie The Jackal, starring Bruce Willis, Richard Gere and Sidney Poitier will no loner be available on Netflix in Canada. In addition to the 1996 movie Primal Fear with Gere, Laura Linney, Edward Norton, Alfre Woodard and Frances McDormand.
Two Jennifer Lopez films are also being removed from Netflix for Canadians, the 2002 drama Enough and the 2018 romantic comedy Second Act, which also stars Leah Remini, Vanessa Hudgens and Milo Ventimiglia.
The Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn comedy Wedding Crashers is leaving Netflix on March 12.
Canadian TV shows Schitt's Creek, Kim’s Convenience, Murdoch Mysteries, Heartland and The Great Canadian Baking Show are also leaving Netflix, but are available on CBC Gem (create an account for free or pay $4.99 plus tax for premium access).
