In an X (formerly Twitter) post uploaded on Thursday, Oct. 31, the NBA star's video featured compiled clips of Republican nominee Donald Trump over the years, namely using choice words to describe certain groups of people.
"Hate Takes Us Back," bold white text at the end of the snippet reads.
The four-time championship winner made what side he's standing on clear with a straightforward note of support for Democratic nominee Kamala Harris.
James captioned the social media post, "What are we even talking about here?? When I think about my kids and my family and how they will grow up, the choice is clear to me. VOTE KAMALA HARRIS!!!"
In the comment thread, people poured in with reactions to the pro athlete's bold political statement.
"The king has spoken," one declared, while another agreed, "This is why you’re the greatest player of all time," followed by a goat emoji.
"WHOA. Powerful!" a third exclaimed.
Meanwhile, others had completely opposite opinions.
"'King' James is stoking racial division by falsely labeling President Trump as racist when he’s anything but. Shame on you LeBron James. Your ignorance is going to do permanent damage to your kids," one disgruntled social media user wrote before urging the legendary basketball player to "Do better."
"Wow Lebron I was your fan you lost me today," someone else admitted, as yet another comment called the 39-year-old a "sell out."
James is the latest in a wave of celebrities that have publicly spoken out about the presidential election this year, with people like Taylor Swift, Mariska Hargitay and George Clooney also expressing support for Harris.
