'Let's Go Blue' chant breaks out during JD Vance speech at Republican National Convention

JD Vance is introduced during the third day of the Republican National Convention at Fiserv Forum. The third day of the RNC focused on foreign policy and threats.

Amid the political divide between parties, the Republican National Convention had a little sports divide, too, Wednesday night in Milwaukee.

During his acceptance speech for the Republican nomination for Vice President of the United States, U.S. Sen. JD Vance of Ohio fueled the historic Michigan-Ohio State rivalry.

"I left the Marines after four years and went to The Ohio State University," Vance said during his speech from the RNC main stage, as cheers break out.

"I am sorry, Michigan, I had to get that in there," he then said, smiling and laughing.

Then a "Let's go blue" chant broke out from the crowd, no doubt from the Michigan delegation and other alumni in attendance.

"Come on, come on," Vance responded, giving them time to be heard. "We have had enough political violence."

The crowd clearly loved the moment and Vance continued on with his speech.

Vance, 39, was born to a working-class family in Middletown, Ohio. His 2016 memoir Hillbilly Elegy, which was later turned into a 2020 movie starring Glenn Close and Amy Adams, detailed poverty, an absent father and a mother addicted to drugs.

The RNC continues tonight with former President Donald Trump taking the stage to accept the party's nomination.
