Letters to the Editor: Be a patriot and get vaccinated

Everyone must do their patriotic

duty and get vaccinated for COVID

America is well on the way to reaching 1 million deaths due to COVID-19. More than 78,000 of those deaths have occurred in Texas.

COVID has claimed the lives of adults and children. We can do better than this. Can’t we all roll up our sleeves and get a brief pinch in the arm to protect ourselves and our fellow Americans? By taking this action we can help get the economy going again, protect our health care system, keep our businesses open, re-open schools, and most of all, we can protect those too young or frail to be vaccinated.

Millions have already taken this action, but many more need to do their part to help protect America and her people.

This is a war and COVID is the enemy that will continue to take the lives of our fellow Americans as long as we let it. Please do your patriotic duty, get vaccinated and boosted.

made for enjoyable reminiscing

Re: Jan. 25 article, "Texas tunes."

Thanks for running the 1971 Glen Campbell photo taken by Frank Empson of The Tennessean.

So many things to enjoy. The men’s white belts. Seeing Campbell so slim and healthy. The man in front of him with velour jacket and striped slacks.

Over the shoulder of the guy shaking Glenn’s hand is a lady in hot pants with matching colored hose. Another lady may also have on a similar costume. Perhaps they were dancers in such shows, or perhaps stewardesses, as were the uniforms of the times.

Seeing the men in their cool shades, a blonde’s puffy hair peeking over a suited man’s shoulder, all signs of times when travel was much different. Getting off of the plane directly onto the tarmac are men traveling in suits, a solider in uniform and others who obviously are starstruck.

This was a joy to view.
